Lego boys

To say Ethan and Austin love Legos would be an understatement.
Every day they get out their bucket of Legos and play...
and play... and play.
For hours and hours!
Eric's mom saved his Legos from when he was little, so they have quite a collection. Our little engineer Ethan is great with building things like his Daddy.
We are enjoying the Legos for now. Not sure how it's going to go when Lauren is crawling around trying to eat them though!

moses basket

My friend Samantha let me borrow her beautiful moses basket to use with Lauren. We use it all the time, so I thought I'd get some shots of the basket she loves to spend so much time in.

Austin and Ethan both came in the room at separate times during our photo shoot. Each of them both gave Lauren unprompted kisses. Ethan told her she was a pretty girl and Austin told her she was a good girl. She sure is one lucky girl to have such great big brothers!

Talking with God

The other day while Austin was taking a nap and Ethan was playing with legos, Eric heard Ethan talking to someone.

Eric - "Who are you talking to Ethan?"
Ethan - "God. I'm asking Him if He wants to play with me, but He's not here."
Eric - "Well, just because you can't see Him doesn't mean He is not here. God's always with us."
Ethan - "I know! God is in my heart. Is He in your heart Daddy?"
Eric - "Yes He is!"

Jenn's visit

Eric's sister and her family drove in Saturday morning to meet Lauren. Abby, Jake and Emily were so cute with her. They each took turns holding her and could barely keep their hands off her.

The kids had a great afternoon playing outside together. I sure wish we lived closer so we could see each other more often!
Ethan and Austin decided they wanted to pretend to be babies like Lauren. Eric swaddled them up and the girls held them. It was really funny! We are so glad Jennifer and the kids came to visit! They spent 6 hours in the car that day just to come see us and we are so glad they did!

smile!

I caught our little sweetie smiling! Yes, it was probably gas, but it still made me so happy! She is doing really well. She eats every three hours during the day and every four hours at night. She loves sleeping in her moses basket during the day and doesn't mind when her brothers are loud. Sometimes I stare at her and can't believe she is ours. Even though we are sleep deprived and exhausted, we are loving every moment with her.

Lauren's first bath

We gave Lauren her first bath the other night. Her brothers were very excited to assist in the bathing. She wasn't too crazy about it, but hopefully she will enjoy her next bath more.

Gege got to snuggle with Lauren after her bath when she was awake and happy. There is nothing sweeter than snuggling with a newborn baby after a bath when they smell so good.

Gege was such a huge help this week! She stayed with us from the night we got home from the hospital until today. She took care of the boys, did laundry, cooked meals, held the baby and so much more. We couldn't have managed those first couple of days without her! She is the best mother-in-law and we are all so thankful for all her help!

CBAV

You may have heard of a VBAC, but have you heard of a CBAV? Ok, I admit I made that term up. Humor is the only way I can absorb the fact that I had a c-section a week ago.

The recovery was tougher than I anticipated, but the good news is on the 5th day I felt like a real person again and didn't want to cry every time I laughed. I learned one of two things about myself: Either I am a big wimp or pain meds don't work very well for me. I choose to think the latter.

Oh, and why is it after having a 7lb, 14oz baby, I come home from the hospital 4 days later and have only lost 4 lbs? I know it has to do with being pumped with fluids and yada yada yada, but it is still frustrating as hell!

Good thing I have this little angel to make it all worth it!

Nanny and Papa's visit

Nanny and Papa drove in from Salado to see their newest great-grandchild. The boys love seeing them and were so excited to show off their baby sister.

Nanny has made all her 9 great-grandchildren baby quilts. She hand embroidered this beautiful one for Lauren. It is soooo sweet and we will treasure it always!

Thank you for coming to see us and making Lauren the beautiful quilt Nanny and Papa! We love you!

big brothers

Ethan decided he wanted to hold his baby sister after she had been home a couple days. Austin had held her a bunch, but this was Ethan's first time. He smiled for the camera and then it happened...
She pooped a loud poop! Ethan thought it was so funny. He has wanted to hold her a lot since that happened!

Who wouldn't want to snuggle this sweet little girl?

Cheese!
