that damn cat

Why is it the day that all four kids go to sleep at the same time for two hours, is the day the cat was accidentally locked in the room with the sleeping kid? Of course it is also the day I attempted to take a nap and was awoken to a loud meowing. After I let her out of the room, I attempted to lay down again. Apparently she had eaten and was ready to go outside, because she meowed again in the hall. It is not a cute little meow, it's a loud, crying mmmeeeeooowwwww! If she would have woken anyone up, she might not have lived to see another day. So it wasn't the kids waking me up this day, it was the damn cat. The cat that I'm allergic to and don't particularly like. Good thing Eric loves her or she would be shipped off to a far away land.

good food

When Ethan refused to eat most of the food on his plate last night for dinner, Eric asked him this question. "What do you like to eat Ethan?" To that our little sweetie answered "good food". Apparently his green beans, corn and chicken were "bad food". He doesn't even like foods that are guaranteed kid pleasers like pizza and chocolate. When asked what "good food" was, he had this to say...

"I like good food like cereal, cookies, ice cream, pretzels and jelly."

Needless to say, I've been waiting the last 3 years for him to grow out of this picky phase. Maybe tomorrow will be the day.

party of five

Growing up I always wanted two kids. I rationalized that it would be easier to get a seat in a restaurant, easier to fit four people in a car than five, and most importantly - I only had two hands. Back then I had many reasons to support my decision.

And then I had my own children. They stole my heart and my capacity to love grew so much, I knew I wanted three. Yes, I know it will be hard and we will be outnumbered, but that's OK. I may be a little more kooky, but that's OK too. Eric and I want a big, loving family that loves each other and has fun together.

So, we will be having three kids and we couldn't be happier.

Oh, and by the way, we are expecting kiddo number three on March 2nd!

the family reunion

Saturday night was the Curry family reunion. We all met up at a meeting hall for potluck and our annual auction. Every family brings an auction item and the money raised goes towards the reunion next year. It's always a lot of fun since the auctioneers have vivid imaginations. We ended up with a "handcrafted" skim board and a duffle bag used by "David Beckham".

You would think my boys would be good little models since I take so many pictures, but this is not the case!

Today we headed home. The ferry ride was much more enjoyable this time! The weather was beautiful and the dolphins were jumping. The kids were so excited to see the dolphins!

We had such a fun vacation with Eric's family. Jake, Ethan and Austin played so well together and the girls were awesome helpers. The boys always love spending time with their Gege and Granddaddy too. I won't forget the fun times with the "freaky mermaid", potty seats in the Yukon, pineapple trees and my underwater experience the ocean.

beach bums

The boys woke up at 6am this morning, so Eric took them to the beach to watch the sunrise. I got to sleep in until 8. I think I have the best hubbie ever!

Around 10, we headed to the beach to check out the jettys. There were starfish all over the shore. My favorite part of the beach is searching for seashells.

The kids had so much fun digging holes, filling them with water and jumping in.

We were at the beach from 10 to 4:30. Poor little Austin was so worn out, he went to bed at 6. We all got way too much sun and will be following him to bed very soon. Tomorrow we meet up with family for the family reunion!

the sun will come out tomorrow

Today was a much better day at the beach. There was no rain, but it was incredibly windy. I realized today that I am more of a lake girl than an ocean girl. I'm not too crazy about the sand, brown waves, wind and seaweed. I tried as hard as I could not to act like the princess I felt like, but it was really hard to play it cool. The big boys had fun riding the boogie boards and the little boys had fun digging in the sand and jumping in the waves.

Kirby had the most fun and absolutely loved the ocean

After our day at the beach, Eric's parents treated us to some seafood. My favorite meal has always been fried shrimp and the food did not disappoint.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be beautiful and sunny!

Good golly Dolly!

Not even a hurricane will stop us from enjoying our family vacation in Port Aransas, Texas. No, a little wind and rain won't slow us down. Our car was packed so full with everything from pack-n-plays to beach toys, we could not have fit one more thing in the car. We caravaned to the beach along with Eric's parents and sister's family.

We had visions of letting the boys enjoy looking for dolphins on the ferry ride, but instead we were locked in our car in the pouring rain.

Our condo is really nice. It's a good thing, because we are going to be spending the next day or so inside until the rain and wind dies down.

Being the determined family that we are, we decided to check out the beach despite Hurricane Dolly hitting the coastline 160 miles south of us. The waves were gigantic, the wind was ridiculously gusty and the tide was very high. The kids had fun jumping over the waves and splashing in the water.

Austin had enough of the water and preferred to perch on this post.

Our beautiful wind blown look after our crazy beach walk

We ended the night playing a game of duck, duck, goose. The kids all had fun, but Austin really got into it. He ran no matter if he was the goose or not. Since the kids had fun and it wore them out, we will be playing duck, duck, goose every day!

Hopefully my next post will be much more bright and sunny!

our little artists

Ethan's awesome morning hair

We gave the boys their new art easel yesterday morning and they LOVED it! They ended up with marker and chalk all over themselves, but they had so much fun, it was worth the clean up. They are quite the little artists!

Ta da!
