fall fun

Austin, Lauren and I went to visit my parents Monday morning.  It was the first cool day this fall and we really got to enjoy it!  The kids had a great time going for a golf cart ride and playing with my old toys.

Lauren loved the Raggedy Ann doll my grandma made for my sister when she was little.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, so we decided to have a picnic lunch at the park, go for a walk and hit the playground.

Lauren had fun on the playscape and had fun playing peek-a-boo with my dad.

Austin had fun too.

I love that my parents live so close and we get to see them often!

We also went to the koi pond and Lauren was beyond excited to see the fish.  It's so fun to experience new things through my kids eyes!

It was a wonderful first cool day of  fall!  I'm looking forward to more gorgeous days soon!

3 year blogging anniversary!

Three years ago I started my blog and I'm so glad I did.  At the time, we had an seventeen month old and a two and a half year old. So much has changed in our lives and I love being able to look back on it all.  Blogging helps me to keep things in perspective and focus on how much God has blessed us.

My first blog entry...

A year later

Thanks for taking the time to read the blog!  I love comments and would love to hear from you!

Fall soccer!

Today was the boys' very first soccer game of the season.  Austin's game started off bright and early at 8:30 this morning.  We were very excited to see how he was going to do, since last year he wasn't very interested in the actual game.

Well, our little soccer stud did not disappoint!  He charged after the ball and is a speedy little guy!  We were so excited when he scored his first ever goal and followed it up with a second one!

My mom and Dad came to the games to cheer them on too.
Ethan's game was at 12:30 and by then, it was ridiculously hot and humid.

Ethan did great despite the heat and finished off the game strong with one assist and one almost goal.

It was a big day of soccer and we are looking forward to more this fall!

my morning

Lauren discovered she likes to color with markers.  Too bad she prefers to color on herself instead of paper.

Austin woke up with some awesome bed head this morning.
Happy Monday!

hello again

This week I felt a little overwhelmed by my day to day To-Do list.  Between soccer practice, two different Bible studies, kindergarten, Mother's Day Out, housework, homework and Eric being out of town last weekend, I feel like I'm still behind.

I didn't realize all the new things I would have to do now with Ethan starting kindergarten.  I'm still not used to getting up at the crack of dawn to get him out the door on time and it's definitely a big responsibility to make sure he has everything he needs for school.  (Mondays we have to remember to bring back his freshly washed rest towel, Tuesdays he has to return his library book, Fridays is ice cream day and he has to turn in his homework and this is on top of fundraisers, PTA, snacks and being on time!)  Every day on my calendar has at least a couple things to do that day.  I only have one kid in school, so I know it's only going to get busier.   I'm so happy that Ethan loves school and I am trying hard to adjust to our new schedules and general business.  I just need a bigger calendar!

So why in the world would I spend my very little free time sewing?  I actually NEED to sew when I'm busy or stressed.  It gives me great satisfaction to start and finish a project.  Life with three kids 5 and under for me is filled with lots of things that are never ending.  If I wash a load of clothes, five minutes later there is a new pile of dirty clothes.  As soon as the dishes are unloaded from the dishwasher, there are more to go in.  Our sweet tornado Lauren can make a room a mess in no time.  The fact is, a mom's job is never done.  There is always something to be done or someone to take care of.  With quilting and sewing, I can start and finish a project that I can be proud of and actually complete something!

This past week I managed to make two strawberry purses, a table runner, a blankie and a quilted trash bag for my car.
My new Hope Valley table runner is now in my Etsy store.  I'm making one for myself to keep since I love it!

After a particularly long day, I whipped up this little trash bag for my car out of the fabric Erica gave me for my 34th birthday.  It makes me happy to see it in my car.  I just may make some more for the Patchwork Lollipop.

I also made a special blankie especially for Charlize.  I hope she loves it!

Austin's first day of Pre-K

Tuesday Austin started preschool!  He has gone to the same school for the last two years, so he was really excited to see his friends and be in the big 4 year old classroom.

I took this picture right as Austin turned to Eric and I and said,
"Ok guys, I got it from here".
Seriously?
This little guy is such a character and brings us such happiness.
I'm very proud of our preschooler and I'm glad he is enjoying school!

September Market Days 2010

This weekend we loaded up the camper and headed to Wimberley for Market Days.  My parents were kind enough to drive up Saturday morning to watch the kids so I could pop kettle corn with Eric and Kristi. The weather was gorgeous and it was a busy, fun day.  The kids had a great time wallking around Market Days and spending time with my parents.
We spent Saturday and Sunday night in Wimberley and the kids loved walking around all the empty booths.  With all the great backdrops, I just HAD to take some pictures of the kids.

I sure love these sweet kiddos!
